Traditional Dances
&
Staging
In our studies called “Traditional Dances & Staging”, we are dealing with the traditional dance forms of Anatolia, Mesopotamia and the Balkans. We are not talking about a study based on memorizing dance steps fixed in a team structure in the classical sense. We aim for the participants to recognize the rhythmic and physical character of the dance form we are dealing with and to be able to dance comfortably in the form we are working on.
In the study that we will start on September 17 this year, we will work on Semahs, Halays and Horons in 12-week periods and produce one scene each.
Our daily workout program consists of three stages. First, we start with the physical exercises that our bodies need to be able to dance and continue to dance. At this stage, we aim to gain strength, flexibility and conditioning. Then, we prepare exercises to develop the rhythm sense and body coordination for the dance form we are working on and finally we work on the basic dance steps of this form.
Our practices will be held on Tuesday evenings between 19:30 - 21:30 at the Biraradadans studio located at 4 Levent Sultan Selim.
